Why should we believe that the flood happened in the Bible, when what’s most important is the moral of the story?

Christians waste a lot of time arguing for the proof of the worldwide flood, and not preaching the gospel or community services. So why waste the time?

< If the flood could be proven, this could have great implications of making the Bible reliable.

If the Bible can prove many things, then we can have more faith that the Bible will prove other things and then we can take the Bible and God’s message in it more seriously.

Simply considering it nonsense to believe in the stories of the Bible will underestimate its message as if it’s a fairy tale book. No one takes seriously a fairy book.

< There’s no actual moral of the story to give anyways.

All the moral you can get is:

1)      Don’t laugh at other people's crazy ideas when they are so serious that they begin to construct something big and don’t stop till it's finished,

2)      Don’t take upcoming prophesies lightly, especially if the prophets begin to construct something big and don’t stop till it was finished,

3)      Be right and good in God’s eye and don’t sin or else something bad would happen to you.

That's it. Is that the moral of the story that people expect?

< Genealogies say so.

The inclusion of Noah's and his sons' genealogy explicitly states that the flood actually happened.

A genealogy is not a metaphor and is never meant to be taken as a metaphor, especially when Genesis states that "All people on earth are descendants of Noah's three sons." (Genesis 9.19). The writer is very serious on its record.
