Before Jesus came, anyone in Israel who did a grave sin (like break the murder, curse their parents, or break the Sabbath) was to be killed.
But, during Jesus' time, Jesus became "friends" with them, for he came to call the sinners, not the righteous, to repentance (Mark 2:17).
Likewise, Christians should be "friends" with them nowadays to lead them to Jesus. If they don't listen, then leave them alone.
