< Yes and no. It does allow slavery, but only the rightful use of slavery.

It doesn’t promote the abuse of slaves and the killing of them like animals and property.

Also, citizens and races couldn’t be forced into slavery unless they were prisoners of war.

The citizens had the option to sell themselves into slavery for a limited time if they were poor or couldn’t afford anything. If slavery was so bad at that time (NOT at the American slavery period), then why would citizens sell themselves to slavery in Israel?


 

STRONG No, the Bible does NOT promote slavery.

True, the Bible doesn't condemn slavery, but it doesn't advocate for it either. It speaks on the topic of slavery, but doesn't take a pro-slavery stance.
