< STRONG He wants us to follow two important summarizing moral laws.
1) Love the Lord (YWHY) your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.
2) Love your neighbor as you love yourself.
It's from this scripture:
Mat 22:36 "Teacher," he asked, "which is the greatest commandment in the Law?"
Mat 22:37 Jesus answered, " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.'
Mat 22:38 This is the greatest and the most important commandment.
Mat 22:39 The second most important commandment is like it: 'Love your neighbor as you love yourself.'
Mat 22:40 The whole Law of Moses and the teachings of the prophets depend on these two commandments."
For instance, these first four commandments satisfy "Love the Lord your God":
1) Do not have any other gods before me.
2) You shall not make for yourself an idol,
3) You shall not make wrongful use of the name of the Lord your God.
4) Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy.
And the last 6 commandments satisfy "Love your neighbor as you love yourself":
5) Honor your father and mother
6) You shall not kill/murder
7) You shall not commit adultery
8) You shall not steal
9) You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor
10) You shall not covet...
< But Christians say we don't need to obey the Sabbath. And what about Circumcision, Festivals, etc?
Have they been done away with? And how come is the Sabbath not included but 9 of the rest of the commandments are? For one website states that "Nine of the Ten Commandments are clearly repeated in the New Testament (all except the command to observe the Sabbath day)." < STRONG Ceremonial laws have passed away, civil laws have changed, and moral laws will remain forever.

< OK He wants us to follow the Law and the Prophets.
Jesus said, "If you love me, keep my commandments" (John 14:15). The commandments he had in mind were the Law and the Prophets (Matt 5:17): "Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven" (Matt 5:19).
There are laws which passed away through Christ's work on the cross, such as the sacrifical laws, thus not all of the laws are included in his statement. He was speaking about the moral and civil laws (Please look at this page for more details).
