<STRONG No. The author's intent suggest some literal interpretations for Genesis.
The fact that genealogies are included in Genesis suggest serious interpretation. The Genesis genealogy is later connected with Jesus in the gospels. The gospels' genealogies literally connects Jesus, the Messiah, to King David, to Noah, and finally to Adam and Eve. There is some serious intent in mapping such a line.
The author of Noah's ark included extra details to suggest literal interpretation. The author also says for example:
Gen 9:19: These three were the sons of Noah, and from these the people of the whole earth were dispersed.
This statement alone is making a serious claim and it would sound ridiculous to say that it should be taken as a metaphor or for poetic value. If so, a metaphor for what? Power? Dominion? There's nothing to represent! Saying it is a metaphor seems to insult it.
